Our tool-free custom manufacturing process allows you to produce a DIN rail unit that perfectly fits all your industrial, electronic or electrical components. We work within tolerances of just 0.2mm ensuring that the size and fit are perfect.

Mounting a custom enclosure to a DIN rail is easy with standard clips which attach the enclosure to the rail. Our custom enclosures can be used in conjunction with a standard clip. FYI, we can either produce the moulded clips or buy them in. Just send us a sample of the clip you intend to use so we can devise its attachment to the box.

What are DIN Rails?

A DIN rail is a completely standard mounting system for components or enclosures.  It consists of a formed sheet metal U- shape with a top hat profile (among others).  It is often made from zinc passivated steel.  They are bought by the metre and usually mounted horizontally.  The rail normally has holes at intervals, to facilitate mounting of the DIN rail onto a wall or into the back of a cabinet.  Many standard mass-produced items, such as circuit breakers, meters and power supplies, have a moulded-in facility which enables them to clip onto DIN rails.  Installation of components onto a DIN rail is quick and simple, likewise, the removal/replacement of defective components is very rapid, enabling very efficient use of an engineer’s time.

Our enclosures can have lengths of DIN rail mounted inside them.   We normally double up on the plastic wall thickness in the area of the DIN rail, so as to provide enough depth for blind M4 inserts, to mount the rail effectively.

Very often, our smaller enclosures are fitted onto a DIN rail themselves.  We can fabricate a suitable clipping facility, but nine times out of ten it is more sensible to procure a standard moulded DIN rail clip.   Such clips are cheap and readily available, and can be easily screwed to our enclosures; all we usually provide is 2 x holes or 2 x M3 inserts.
